Engineer III – Environmental / Water Treatment Systems
A rapidly growing environmental technology company is seeking an experienced and solutions-oriented Engineer III to support the design, implementation, and operation of advanced industrial water treatment systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on project execution, process design, pilot systems, and collaborating across technical and customer-facing teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pilot and commercial engineering projects from design through implementation and delivery
- Support customer site evaluations and assess pilot feasibility
- Oversee fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning, and system performance evaluations
- Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and technical documentation
- Perform process calculations, including mass and energy balances
- Specify and evaluate process equipment, instrumentation, valves, piping, and treatment systems
- Support vendor evaluations, procurement activities, and bid comparisons
- Analyze pilot and operational data to identify process improvements and optimization opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and business development teams
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed
- Assist with technical proposals, project estimates, and customer-facing presentations
- Participate in safety reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Chemical Engineering preferred
- Mechanical Engineering considered
- 3–5+ years of experience in:
- Water treatment
- Environmental technology
- Process engineering
- Pilot systems
- Manufacturing or industrial project environments
- Experience supporting engineering documentation and project controls
- Strong understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and water chemistry
- Experience developing PFDs and P&IDs using AutoCAD or similar software
- Strong analytical, technical writing, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and field testing
- Industrial or wastewater treatment experience
- Familiarity with industrial controls, instrumentation, or data systems
- Experience supporting capital projects and commercial-scale implementations

- $100,000 – $130,000 base salary
